Resident Educator Program

The Ohio Resident Educator Program began in 2011 and is a comprehensive, four-year initiative to assist beginning teachers with mentoring and professional development as they start their education careers. The Resident Educator Program is designed to improve teacher retention, enhance teacher quality, and result in improved student achievement. Only teachers with a Resident Educator license follow the program requirements.

  •  As a reminder, Focused Mentoring I activities (communication, collaboration, and professional growth) should be completed in year one.
  •  Focused Mentoring II activities (formative/summative assessments and feedback) should be completed in year two.
  •  The mentor toolkit has ideas for Focused Mentoring activities. There are also valuable sample activities on ODE's Resident Educator website.

For questions or concerns, please contact TCS Resident Educator Program Coordinator, Paula Zirm at paula_zirm@tiffincityschools.org or 419-447-3358
